Content Lead (Independent Contractor)

📍 Remote (Mid-Atlantic/New England Preferred) | | 6-Month Contract | $6,000/month 

About the Role

RMH Compass is seeking a seasoned Content Lead (contractor) to own and execute content development that drives awareness, engagement, and action among HR and Benefits leaders. This six-month engagement is ideal for a content strategist and writer with strong execution skills, able to work independently while contributing to our broader marketing and communications strategy.

You’ll take the lead on developing content that translates complex reproductive and maternal health (RMH) topics into powerful, accessible narratives. This includes trend reports, LinkedIn campaigns, newsletters, and resource development for our growing community of RMH@Work Leaders.

Key Deliverables

1. Trend Reports (Quarterly)

  • Lead content development for RMH Compass’s flagship trend reports

  • Translate survey data, proprietary insights, and policy context into compelling, action-oriented narratives for employers

  • Own structure, drafting, and editing from concept to final copy

2. LinkedIn Content (Weekly/Ongoing)

  • Develop and run strategic campaigns to grow brand awareness, drive engagement and establish thought leadership 

  • Execute a consistent cadence of high-value posts (min 1–2/week) tailored to HR/Benefits leaders and aligned with RMH Compass’s voice and goals

  • Write and schedule posts for RMH Compass and CEO’s LinkedIn profile, amplify new resources, and monitor analytics to refine messaging and format

  • Engage with relevant and influential conversations to bring awareness to our work

    3. Resource Development (~3-4 per month)

  • Partner closely with the Client Success team to identify client needs and develop practical, high-value resources

  • Own full-cycle production of each resource, from topic ideation and research to writing and formatting

  • Formats may include FAQs, sample policies, case studies, tip sheets, and vendor guides

4. Newsletter (Monthly)

  • Curate and write a monthly email newsletter highlighting RMH Compass content, new resources, and industry developments

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on messaging, content priorities and calls to action

5.  Website Copy Updates (Ongoing)

  • Maintain and update existing website content in line with evolving messaging priorities

  • Draft and publish new content for resource pages as materials are developed

6. Messaging Refinement (Ongoing)

  • Lead the ongoing refinement and optimization of RMH Compass’s messaging for the organization, its programs, and tools; and maintain foundational messaging documents

  • Evolve and clarify value propositions for multiple audiences—HR professionals, executive leadership, employees, funders, etc.

  • Ensure message consistency across all content channels and deliverables, translating strategy into compelling, actionable language

Ideal Candidate Profile

What You Bring:

  • 5–10 years of experience in content strategy, communications, or editorial roles—ideally to business leaders, HR/Benefits space, health policy, or B2B/HR-focused spaces

  • Strong portfolio of short- and long-form content that demonstrates clarity, insight, and strategic execution

  • Self-directed work style with proven ability to work with fully remote team, manage and deliver multiple projects on deadline

  • Comfort working cross-functionally with teams across client success, design, research, and partnerships

  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Mailchimp, WordPress/Squarespace, and Canva

  • Deep curiosity or background in reproductive and maternal health, employee benefits, or corporate responsibility is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • $6,000/month for a 6-month contract 

  • Expected start: As soon as possible

  • Flexible hours; remote work

  • Potential for contract extension or retainer-based role after initial term
