Workplace Lactation Model Policies

Help build a future-ready workplace.

Since the passage of the PUMP Act in late 2022, several organizations have created comprehensive model policies.

We encourage all organizations to put in place a lactation policy that is compliant with the PUMP Act and that articulates the following:

  • How the employer will comply with PUMP Act requirements through facilities accommodation (providing an equipped, private, clean room to pump) and guidance on how that space is reserved

  • How the employee can utilize a lactation benefit, including structuring pumping time during the day and guidance on who should be informed of the pumping schedule

Below we include links to third-party created policies we have found that meet a high-standard, with clear, comprehensive and robust policies.
